It deals with aggregative economics and is defined as the study of overall economic phenomena, like problems of full employment, GNP, savings, investment, aggregate consumption, aggregate investment, economic growth, etc.

It is also called the Theory of Income and Employment since its major subject matter deals with the determination of income and employment. Macroeconomics study is used to solve many problems of an economy such as monetary problems, economic fluctuations, general unemployment, inflation, disequilibrium in the balance of payment position, etc.

An economist can work as a professor, government advisor, consultant, and private sector employee. With their theoretical models, they study human behavior and explain social phenomena.
