Cell Biology Books PDF: All living organisms are made up of cells, which are the smallest unit that can live on their own. It has three main parts; a nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane. A cell is surrounded by a cell membrane, which controls the substances that enter or exit from a cell. In the center of the cell, there is the nucleus that contains the nucleolus and the cell’s DNA. The fluid that is inside the cell is the cytoplasm. Studying the basic unit of life, the cell is known as cell biology.
As all living organisms including humans, plants, and animals are made up of cells, focusing on and studying the cell allows understanding in detail of the tissues, organs, organisms, and organ system that cells compose.
A cell biologist focuses on understanding how the cell work by examining the machinery inside the cell, how they communicate, and how larger structures are formed.
The team of BooksBenefit bring you a unique collection of cell biology books pdf that will help you know more about the cell, what’s inside it, and many other cell-related topics.
Cell biology is divided into many subtopics like cell communication, cell metabolism, cell composition, and cell cycle. Further cell biology is interconnected with other fields like neurobiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, plant biology, and immunology.
Cells have different parts and each of them has different functions. A human cell has the following mentioned below parts in their cell-
Cytoplasm: This is made up of a jelly-like fluid called the cytosol and other structures surrounded by the nucleus.
Cytoskeleton: A long network of fibers that make up the cell’s structural framework. It has several critical functions, including participating in cell division, determining cell shape, and allowing cells to move. It also provides a track-like system that directs the movement of organelles and other substances in the cells.
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER): ER helps process molecules created by the cell. The endoplasmic reticulum also transports these molecules to their specific destinations either outside or inside the cell.
Golgi apparatus: This is also known as the Golgi body or Golgi complex. It is responsible for modifying, transporting, and packaging lipids and proteins to the targeted destination.
Plasma membrane: This is the outer lining of the cell and it separates the cell from its environment and allows materials to come and go inside or outside the cell.
Ribosomes: These are the organelles that help in processing the cell’s genetic instructions to create proteins. They can float freely in the cytoplasm or be connected to the endoplasmic reticulum.
Lysosomes and peroxisomes: These organelles are the recycling center of the cell and they digest foreign bacteria that rid the cell of toxic substances, invade the cell, and recycle worn-out cell components.
Mitochondria: They are complex organelles that convert energy from food into a form that the cell can use. They have their own separate from the DNA in the nucleus, and genetic material, and can make copies of themselves.
Nucleus: It is the cell’s command center, sending directions to the cell to grow, mature, divide, or die. The nuclear envelope surrounds the nucleus, which separates the nucleus from the rest of the cell and protects the DNA.
