Ayurveda Books: The term “Ayurveda” is one of the oldest healing science which means “The Science of Life” The knowledge of Ayurveda originated in India 5,000 years and is still known as the “Mother of all Healing.” It has been originated from ancient Vedic culture and was orally taught for thousands of years and later was set to print a few thousand years ago only, which is inaccessible. Ayurveda has its roots in other treatments like Polarity Therapy and Homeopathy.
In the US, it is a form of complementary and alternative medicine. The students who study this believe that everything in the universe is connected whether dead or alive.
When one’s body, mind, and spirit are in a harmony with the universe, it is believed that the person has good health. If there is something that disrupts the balance between them then that person is sick.
In Ayurvedic studies, it is believed that a person is made up of five basic elements that are found in the universe which are: air, water, fire, space, and earth.
All these get combined in the human body to form three life forces or energies termed as “doshas,” space and air are termed as “Vata dosha,” fire and water as “Pitta dosha” and water and earth as “Kapha dosha.”
The body, mind, and the consciousness of the body work together to maintain the balance. To make sure that there is a balance in the body, one should understand how pitta, Kapha, and Vata work together.
Vata: It is a subtle energy that is associated with movement, like breathing blinking, tissue movement, pulse rate, and all other movements.
Pita: It expresses the body’s metabolic system, made up of Fire and water. It controls absorption, assimilation, nutrition, metabolism, digestion, and body temperature.
Kapha: It is the energy that forms the body’s structure. It holds bones, muscles, and tendons. Helps in lubricating joints, maintains immunity, and moisturizes the skin.
It is said that whenever someone has health issues that mean that they are linked with the balance of their doshas.
In India and in many Ayurveda Books, Ayurvedic medicine is considered equal to traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, homeopathic medicine, and naturopathic medicine. In the United States the homeopathic practitioners do not have a license are there is no national standard for it. Although, their schools have gained approval from the educational institutions in some states.
Some Ayurvedic medicines contain ingredients like herbs, minerals, metals, etc. But if any of them is used improperly then there will be harmful effects.
The main difference between the Western and Ayurvedic medicines is that Western or allopathic medicines use drugs and surgeries to get rid of the body diseased tissue. Whereas the Ayurvedic tends to focus on minimizing the stress and the flow of energies and focuses on the natural defense of the body system.
